I've broken my cat

Hello, This is my first forum post !
I have just come out of the Underdark. I have had the cat familliar since early in the game, & i like it's scouting abilities.
Anyway i was in a battle with the last of the mind flayers and the cat got charmed/dominated etc. I killed the last mind flayer and left the cat to shake off the charm. After this i spoke to the cat, pet it & picked it up. Everything seemed ok. However the next time i put the cat down, pressed select all, and started to move off and the cat doesn't move. I only seem to have a party of 6 not 7. I can talk to the cat & use it manually. It just will not be part of my formation. If i charm the cat (once i get through MR) it moves like any other charmed creature will, until the charm runs out.
Because of this, i left the cat behind with the drow when i went to see the silver dragon for the last time. This mean that the "you must gather your party before going forth" link between the cat & the party is broke ?
I have TOB installed but haven't touched that part of the game yet. I am running V2.5.26498, with no other mod.
Is this a known bug or feature & there anyway around this without losing the point of con. I would like a new famillair if possible as long as it can walk. I don't really want to go back to a old saved game as this means i need to do the most of the underdark again.
Any advice please !
regards
Alan B

I use the ferret a lot. Great for holding items before you get the bag of holding, not to mention another, very powerful item.

Why the face?
Anyway, as far as I understand, your cat does not move when you tell it to?
I assume that it's still friendly (the circle is green), however, when you try to select him, you get the dialog cursor instead. Is that right?
ToB itself contains a number of bugfixes by the way.
I am unsure of how to deal with this at the moment except perhaps get a new familiar or maybe try casting Maze or Imprisonment on the cat and see if it is returned under your control.

Or...
I suppose you could try killing the cat and resummoning it. If you do loose that 1 Con point, you could just hack it back (the quickest way i have in mind at the moment to be to spawn the health tome).

Health Tomes do not work in BG2.

The easiest way to regain the point of constitution would likely be to use Shadow Keeper.
You might also try downloading the official patch as well as either the Baldurdash fix pack
or the

Thanks for your response.
I've just tried a maze spell on the cat, like charm, does not reset the cat after the spell ends. charm spells make the cat part of the group when you click on "select all" when the cat is charmed, but as soon as the spell ends the problem returns.
Just to clarify the cat is friendly (green circle). I can select the cat by clicking on it and move it about by itself. i can also get it to hide in shadows or detect traps etc. If i click on "select all" and click on the floor all my 6 party members move into formation except the cat. so i have 2 choices move party then move cat or pick cat up and forget and lose it somewhere.
bugfixes. I will use them if there are no other alternatives allthough neither of theses mentions the particular problem. My personal rules will allow me to cheat to get a point of con back if i need to. Appart from manual/tomes are there other quick cheats.

I don't understand, what exactly is the problem? Is the problem your cat won't go into formation with you? Or is the problem the cat isn't part of your group anymore and won't follow you through transition areas?
If you can pick up the cat and put it inside your inventory then release again as necessary (in the next area even), it'll problabably reset problems. If for some reason you can't pick up the cat then try summoning a new one, I believe scrolls of find familiar are available in the underdark.
Personally I didn't know familiars would go into formation with characters, was it ever possible for you?

Basically, you are correct. This cat will not follow the group and should i not be able to leave it behind in other transition areas, but i can. if i try to cast a new find familiar i am told "a familiar has already been summoned". Obviously if i kill the cat first i lose the constitution point. i can pick it up assuming i have space for it. it's annoying it no longer scampers along with the rest of the group, like it used to.

Well, I don't normally have my rabbit out of my inventory, the point of CON loss is enough for me to keep the little thing safe, I'm surprised no one else keeps their familiar's set in the inventory, and release them when needed to.
Try talking to the cat, and let it into your inventory, and then release it.

Is this a plaussible theory on the cat? Mind flayers drain intelligence and like a feebleminded dragon it won't move or talk. It's so stupid that IT CAN'T EVEN ATTACK. It might be as simple as remove curse or sth like that. I use Mordi's swords on mind flayers and I never have my intelligence drained.
