Sorceror as only mage?

Hi
I'm going to start a new party. and my idea was a 4 man party containing of these:
Me, Avenger
Chloe, Kensai
Kelsey, Sorcerer
Valen, Thief
Now i'm just wondering: Could I use a sorceror as my only spellcaster? Do the sorceror ever get "haste"? I could take in Edwin in my party but I like the idea of a 4 man party better than 5 man... and i dont wanna throw Kelsey out because of that irritating Edwin characer I've played with so many times...
(I know there is alot of Sorc vs Mage threads but I couldn't find any thread concerning the question of sorc as ONLY spellcaster)

I think it's possible, you have to ajust your spell choices to it.
You decide if you get haste, since you decide which spells you pick

It's been said before quite a lot, but you can play through the game successfully with any party, even 4 spellcasters or going solo. Substituting different party NPCs only affects the challenge and strategic thinking involved. That's all.
As for a sorceror, in some ways the game will be easier with one in your party. They will always have their full spell list available for use (barring any mishap, such as a level drain). On the other hand, they will have fewer spells to learn, so you need to make each spell choice you receive count a great deal.
Personally, I like to have one primary and one secondary magic user in the party, but that's up to you. If you go with one magic user and it's a sorc, you have to be still more careful about which spells you add to your collection. I would suggest really studying
Xyx's spell recommendations. They're very much his own opinions, but there's a lot of good information, there, especially about which spells simply don't yield any real benefits.
Note: Valen and Kelsey? Are you running a happy mod? Because Valen likes to take command of the party, and the decisions she makes won't please "good" party NPCs. Just a thought. Very well done mod, however.

do you use any other mods like tactics to make the game harder?
otherwise this game will be a breeze with this party
valen is so overpowered

You're making your party better by choosing a Sorcerer as your only mage (as long as you're familiar with the spells in BGII).
If there are any "iffy" spells (like most summons and the aformentioned haste), use a scroll.

I agree that the sorcerer is a strong choice. Only the wildmage is stronger. (However, I would not choose the wildmage in a tactically modded game if he was my sole source of arcane power.) And remember that "iffy" spells are decided by your play style, your team, and the mods (if any) that you install. Haste is sometimes a good choice.

I don't think sorcs can use scrolls--as least, they can't in my current game, though it's heavily modded.

Sorcerers can normally use arcane scrolls - unless maybe if they are stupid (low intelligence). I've never heard of a mod preventing them from doing so. Do you have any idea, Fable, which mod may be causing that?

No, I don't. I could be up my list, but this is really off-topic, here. Suffice to say, I deliberately tested it out with Kelsey, whom I'm using at the moment. All mage scrolls are faded, and unable to be placed in the "use" area of his inventory screen.

In the unmodded game sorcerers CAN use scrolls, although I'd much rather sell them and use wands instead. You should have no problems with a sorcerer as you'll often find yourself using the same spells over and over, just be careful about your spell choice. Once you choose the spells, they're with you forever.

My very first character, back when ToB wasn't available yet, was a sorcerer, and I've been playing with sorcerers ever since. Next to them, mages pale; Imoen's number of kills and total experience earned is always much lower than Xan's or Kelsey's.
My only problem is that the vanilla game doesn't introduce thieves, only thief/mages(Nalia, Imoen, Jan), but new NPC mods and
Level1NPCs mod took care of this problem.
