Hi all! Here I am with yet another question
Are there any well-written male PC romance mods? I have the Valen (well, she's a girl, I know, but I was curious anyway
) and Solufaein mods installed, can't wait to get into Underdark
I was looking for a Haer'Dalis romance mod but I couldn't find anything
Could you guys recommend anything that's worth to install?

Thanks to the modding community, there are a great many different romance options for female PCs. I do not know of a Haer-Daelis one; however, it's possible there is one lurking in an IE modding community somewhere. The most popular romance options for a female NPC have, historically, been the Kelsey and Solaufein mods. Both are very well done NPCs. Here's a link to an old thread discussing their merits. There are several others, all have their respective supporters. Of the recent NPC mods, I've heard many who have enjoyed the Xan romance and the Edwin romance. I'm sure others are more equipped than I to speak on those subjects, though.
Here's a list of the female romance options I'm aware of...
Some mostly original NPCs:

Tsujatha

Some BG1 NPCs recreated for BG2:

Some NPC related ones:

Great! Thanks a bunch, I'll add Tsujatha, too.

A word about Tsujatha: I found the scripting of her personal quest problematic. It involved an enemy who was literally unbeatable, with a godawful amount of hitpoints and stamina in relation to your level anywhere in the game, and who could easily be dispatched by an acquaintance of Tsujatha who shows up a few rounds in combat. This just didn't work, for me. I recognize what the creator was aiming for, but creating an invulnerable opponent to get a certain outcome is anti-RPG, in my opinion.
This is my reaction; others may have a different one. But it's worth keeping in mind. You might search on Tsujatha, as the mod has been mentioned a few times in the forum.

Tsujatha is male, so I'm curious why you referred to the personal quest as "her" quest.
Your description could also apply to Saerileth's personal quest, which involves an enemy that is practically unbeatable unless you allow one of her companions to take all of the damage. He (the companion) can absorb so much damage, it's cheesy, but I wouldn't say he can "easily" dispatch the enemy. The battle drags on and on until the enemy is finally dead. I don't think it ruins the mod entirely, but the quest doesn't work for me, either--my "victory" means nothing to me. I just get it over with as soon as possible so I can move on to other things.

Nevertheless, I'm pretty happy with
him for now (yes, he's definitely a male
). I was afraid of integrating a mediocre fan-fiction into this great game but I really like his character so far. Cool voice, and the first few conversations we've had really got me curious about his background. Plus the holy paladin vs. evil necro thing is quite intriguing, too :mischief: Can't wait to get into the Underdark and see Solufaein's approach to the matter
(Perhaps I'll save him for my evil party, though).
Thanks for the recommendation again!

When you finish the mod or get well into it, let us know how you like it. I've yet to try Tsujatha, though I've heard good things about it. While I'm not horribly interested in the romance component, I'd love to hear more about how the NPC fairs in terms of quality and quantity of dialogues, banters, game balance, side quests, and voicing.

Frankly, I'm a bit ambivalent about it. I really like the character himself, the whole alien elf concept is intriguing, but he's terribly buggy. For example, and I had to find this out the hard way, his dialogues won't trigger unless you do his quest right away. Which is very easy to forget, because he won't pester you about it unlike other NPCs who start complaining if their own goals are ignored for a while. I got stuck with him for quite a long time until I figured that I forgot to do his quest...
In addition, the very first journal entry is very vague, doesn't give you any clue where exactly to go, so that requires a bit of googling, too, which, for me, kinda gives a slap to the whole adventuring feeling. >
Saving you the time, the person you are looking for is on the 2nd floor of the Five Flagons. <
Also, it's best to acquire him as early as possible in order for the romance to develop properly, but he's pretty high level so that kinda unbalances things.
There might be trouble with the romance thing too, unless you follow certain rules, but there is no way to know these rules beforehand (like resting in normal intervals, not once every two weeks). For example, his presence in the party completely blocked the Anomen romance for some obscure reason. I owe him one for that, though
All in all, he's pretty interesting and loveable, but the fact that I had to look up so many things in order to get him to work properly kinda killed the thing for me. Now he seems to be back on track, but my party is in Suldanessellar already...
There should be no problem, tough, if you pick him up early in the game, rest regularly and give him plenty time in your party. He's a very useful party member, and the romance part is quite nice, too

I think I'd recommend Kelsey, Angelo or Kivan for a female protagonist. Or my own Xan, definitely.
By the way,
Romantic Encounters has some very interesting, albeit short, romantic adventures with joinable(including Haer'Dalis) and non-joinable characters. Eight different authors participated, so I think you'll find something for you there. The next version will feature a (different) Valygar romance.

Yeah, you might have a better experience with a different mod. Kelsey, Xan, and Solaufein may be better options for you. They are all polished, from what I gather. I'm not sure how any handle an evil PC, but I imagine they are equipped to deal with it. By the same token, I've heard some positive stuff about the Edwin Romance mod. Though, why anyone would want to romance Edwin is beyond me.

It's curious that you would mention that, since I just finished a fanfiction novel based on BG2 in which the romance (such as it was) featured Ediwn, called
In the Cards. Not bad.
I would agree with the recommendations above, and add the bard Keto to the list--excecpt that she has no ToB content.

Cool, I'll check them out, too. Kelsey is a fighter, I presume?

Oh, talking about alignment, that's another weird thing about Tsu. He's evil by default, but there's nothing evil in his behaviour. Not that I want him to be a cold blooded murderer or something, I just don't understand the reason behind this choice for his alignment.

Are you kidding?

All the better, since the PC is a kensai. Thanks!
