I need more XP!

Post by neight »

Hey all-
This is my first posting. I've already played thru KotOR I and II on both light and dark side paths. I'm just going through them again and looking to have a much more intense experience. That said, I need a good way to seriously up my XP level. I want to max out all of my attributes. Stuff like that. Any pointers?

A couple of simple things:

First, don't allocate all your leveling points until you've gotten your Jedi powers. You'll suffer in the first few levels, but reap the rewards, later.

Second, if you want to make gameplay more intense, make it a condition to leave the ship with only one teammate--or perhaps wth none. No more experience in this, but you'll certainly find playing the braindead AI a lot more of a challenge.

You can get more experience by repairing and hacking things. So just increase your computer and repair skills or bring someone with you who does have high skills. You will get the XP for enemies who die from your repaired robots and hacked terminals.

If you are looking for more fun, just bring with you different characters. HK-47 is a funny companion and so is Jolee.
Always remember you're unique ... just like everyone else.

Don't you need to use cheats if you want to do that? The classes in the game makes it almost impossible to do that.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

The simplest way of getting the most XP is just doing everything possible, completing every quest and killing all enemies. :)
  :p ;) :D :o :( :)

This always seemed like a cheesy tactic to me. But, I digress. Certainly, it's a way to get even more monstrously powerful than you already become in the game. And if that's what you're looking for, definitely do that in the first game.

It seems to me that if you want to make the game more "intense", you'd do things to make the game more challenging. Fable's suggestion of utilizing just one teammate or, alternatively, using some of your weaker (i.e. non Jedi) allies is solid. You might step away from using two weapons, and focus on a single light saber. Don't pause and save very often, etc. Obviously, play the side of the force that you didn't the first time through, as well.

However, if you're more interested in min/maxing stats, all you really can do is what others have suggested, do every possible side quest. If you want to max out attributes, to the best of my knowledge you'll have to use cheats.

Finally, if you have the PC versions you might try out some user created mods. I've yet to do this, as I didn't find the games to be some of my favorites to replay. However, I know there are a lot of different mods out there. I believe that the Taris Upper City Emporium is where a lot of mod announcements get posted.

Absolutely. I've never used this tactic myself, because it's clearly OOC: it implies a knowledge of future events that your character couldn't be expected to have in the early stages of KotoR. Still, if he wants to be a powermonger...

Good suggestions. A few others:

Agree never to use mines and grenades.
Alternatively, agree never to upgrade lightsabers.
Never use lightsabers, at all.
Perhaps the toughest would be never to use any jedi powers. Quite a challenge, that, if you choose to accept it, Jim.

The brain dead Ai can be tricked. my best bet, pick them off one by one.

An easy way to get XP on KOTOR I is on Tattoine. *Spoiler*
Spoiler
On the desert is a group of Hulak Wraids(sp) that regenerate. Kill them, transit back to ship, transit to desert, repeat.
Good XP and decent loot early in the game. Mildly dangerous early in the game also.
Land of the Free Because of the Brave
Apathy is death
Impressive...very impressive
