WARNING!

This is off topic, even for an off topic board, however....

DO NOT install the new DAT if you own either McAfee VirusScan 4.0.2 or 4.5 and are running Win95!!!

Both DAT's 4154 and 4155 will cause IE and OE to crash!

Im in a lot of trouble!

.DAT files is what you download from McAfee antivirus website. New virus-definitions and so on

Updateing your virus program with the latest and greatest files, that way your viris protection program can keep current on the types of viruses out there. But the new DAT files for McAfee WILL crash Internet Explorer. I have been dealing with this at the colege where I work. I believe you have to upgrade you McAfee engine to cure this problem.

It can also stand for data i believe. It is not jsut for AV upgrades.

Yeah - but when the original post said McAfee and download virusscan ;)

But yes - *.dat is also "just" data-files.
