ok im a level five ranger yet i dont have an animal companion? when do i get one? Or what am i missing, i.e i havent seen how to summon it

I had a thought that maybe i get one at the zoo mission but i havent gone there yet

I believe you acquire it at level 6. It's earlier in NWN2, which may be why you are confused.
