Wizard Slayer questions, and I'm looking for some tips:

I don't know why, but I find this class very interesting. I've never tried one before.

I am trying to think of how to use them effectively.

1) Can they use potions?
2) Do missile attacks add to the spell failure ability?
3) What's the duration on the spell failure ability?
4) Other than Thief (and getting the HLA UAI), how do the other dual classes fare?
5) How do they fare as single-classed characters? I think a Dwarven Wizard Slayer just sounds awesome.
6) Can they wear rings (like the Ring of Regeneration or a Ring of Protection)?
7) In ToB, can they use the Machine of Lum the Mad? What about the Deck of Many Things?
8) In BG1 (tutu), can they use the stat-increasing tomes?

TIA

Oh, final little question: Do you think they're a fun class? Give me your pros and cons. I realize this class is a bit unpopular, so I'd really only like the opinions on this last question to come from people who have played them before.

First of all, i used a mod, which beefed them up a bit ( better MR )

they CAN use potions, i tried him out as a MS / MAGE which was quite funny i think, so i cant say anything to solo-class, but u cant wear rings afair, u can use Lums mashine and the deck of many things, but im not too sure about the tomes since i just played my Assasin/Mage through BG1 TUTU

im not sure about the duration and the ability of the spell faliure off ranged attacks, but cld work ;)

I think the section in here on the Wizardslayer might help you out:
GameFAQs: Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal (PC) Class FAQ by DSimpson

The Spell Failure only applies to the Wizard's next spell. I think it also applies to missile attacks.
As for the tomes, I would create a Wizard Slayer, cheat in the tomes, or give them with Shadowkeeper, and see what happens.

Looking back on all these guides years after they were written... there is just so much more to add!

In the Wizard Slayer's case, if the effect only affects ONE spell, then in my opinion an Assassin would serve as a better interrupt. As they can't use rings, there is only one weapon which will give them access to Improved Haste.

I believe that the effect does work with ranged weapons.

I believe all characters can use the Machine of Lum the Mad. The restriction applies to items.

Watch it in BG1, I remember that a high magic resistance worked negatively as it protected against healing spells.

They aren't worth it anywhere. First of all, you need to be a pure WS to get remotely good enough magical resistance, meaning around 75-90 at level 40. And even then, you have a fighter who can't use any magical items, which yeah, include rings. It doesn't include Boots of Speed though, which I find interesting.

But seriously, compare him to say, an Inquisitor wielding Carsomyr. That's 50 MR off the bat, with all the Inquisitors nice abilities and he can wear any items there is.

The % failure is kinda wasted as well. If you can hit a mage, the mage is usually dead. The fact that is goes through stoneskin doesn't matter, so does elemental damage. And decapitation.

However, they are interesting and something special, sure. Try one out if you havn't. :)
