SoA and Vista

I have looked around a bit, and found no answer. So...

returning to BG on a brand new and fine computer designed for gaming I find that when I try to start an SoA game, the game just freezes and stops replying as I have created the new character and goes on to start game.

Oh what to do? I miss my BG I and II (BGI is buggy as well, Hull will not speak to me).

I had some problems with Vista as well. Solved it by running it as XP-compatible and changing video settings for half an hour or so. Now it works fine, though.

Where exactly does it freeze?

i use vista and havnt had too many issues, i have only had graphic issues, but that was fixed by going into the game options (or play options cant remember and not on my computer) and then making sure i had all the latest patches downloaded too. try those two things if you havnt already and see if it might help you a bit.
