Problems with installation

I have had Icewind Dale for years and just reinstalled it on a new PC... (with Vista... which is a cluster unto itself... but I digress). Anyhow, when I start Icewind Dale, it runs fine until I quick save and it crashes, when i try to bring it back up, I get a message saying "An Assertion failed in InfGame.cpp at line number 2390"... can anybody help with this??? Thanks
