I went and watched Enemy at the Gates last night and would have to say this is now my favourite movie of all time.

I don't know why, but I felt so involved in the storyline and it was an incredible feeling. Finally a movie that didn't revolve around the americans all the time.

The cast involved Jude Law, Ed Harris, Rachel Weisz and a couple of others, including even Bob Hoskins.

I'm really impressed with it and if anyone has a chance to see it, go and watch it! Brilliant, brilliant movie!

Its quite a good movie, I agree. Its not my favourite, but its pretty good.

Don't have "a" favorite, but I do have several.

Science Fiction: Matrix and Star Wars Episode V.

Action: Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.

Comedy: Dumb and Dumber

Romance: I forgot the name, but Audrey Hepburn stars in it. She plays a princess who escaped from the palace in Rome and met this American reporter and they fell in love together, it's pretty sad. It's also pretty old.

Horror/Suspense: Exorcist.

Drama: Braveheart.

Favorite movies? Hmmm...

Fantasy: Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast. (*not* that Disney abortion)

Adventure: Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai

Mystery: The Maltese Falcon

Adventure/Angst: The Third Man

Comedy: Depends on my mood. At this moment, it's Woody Allen's Love and Death.

Well they tried to have an abortion but it just went all wrong and the baby came out goofy

Leon - movie about a hitman who has to take in a little girl.

Pulp Fiction - everybody knows this one

Army of Darkness - follow up of evil dead (you know, the chainsaw guy)


Spaceballs - Great comedy made like Star Wars

From dusk till dawn - killer vampires

I agree, Vehemence, Enemy at the gates is a great movie.

Extremely bad movie:
Driven with Sly Stallone. Bad special effects, no acting whatsoever. And what irritated the heck out of me: Was it Indy was it Formula One? No, it was kind of both.....

Well I was going to watch it.... but you've changed my mind

A bad movie: Me, Myself, and Irene. I hated that movie so much I stopped watching halfway through.

they all say its citizen kane

and it is very good - i liked it alot.

Enemy at the Gates beats it

Citizen Kane *is* a fantastic film. It's hard to realize it now--it just does everything so well--but so many elements of film style date from Citizen Kane. It was one of those great hallmark movies (like M, or Birth of a Nation) which creates its own elements of cinematic vocabulary that everybody starts to copy.

Good list, Fable. The Maltese Falcon is one of the slickest, coolest movies ever. I think Bogey was the ultimate leading man. The closest thing to him now is (groan) Bruce Willis. Pretty sad.

something with Peter Sellers - I'll be silly and say The Magic Christian today.

Hitchcok had the most sustained good career of any director/producer type - you could pick almost ANY movie he made, and he made movies for 50 years! Just for lasting impact I would say Psycho, North by Northwest or Saboteur.

I won't go on cuz I could talk about movies all day, but I would say that something by Buster Keaton or his modern disciple Jackie Chan should be seen by everyone...I liked Steamboat Willie Jr. w/Keaton and Twin Dragons w/Chan.

Repo Man is a great film, filled with more imagination than any ten Hollywood movies in the last several years. It's been completely overlooked by Hollywood, in fact, which only pays attention to big-budgeted moneymakers. I've been meaning to break out my copy, and show it to my wife (who's never seen it). The Labor Day weekend sounds like a good time.

King of Hearts was a fine film, too. Ever heard of it?

Repo Man - I've seen it SO many times, and yet it just gets better. Guy who made it - Nick Cox or something. The sound in the movie is very layered - there's a lot of weird background dialogue hidden in the mix.

King of Hearts - trying to remember what this is about.///OK, I looked it up, I remember seeing this movie a couple times, once when I was a young kid - my parents had habit of taking me as infant to many artsy movies, no wonder I am like this! I don't remember specifics but definitely a unique and touching movie (as the French movies often are) and has that '60s wacky quality.
