Troubles of the Undead Kind

From what I can tell so far I have a slightly different issue with Vampirism then most people. I want to become a vampire but can't. Earlier in my game I had been a vampire but I wanted to wait until later to be the vampire when my abilities were better. So I used the PurgeBlood Salts from Deepscorn Hollow to cure my vampirism. Now, I am ready to be a vampire again and I was following the way Vicente Valteiri can give you Vampirism through but no matter how long I wait and sleep, I just can't contract Vampirism. I got the 1st journal entry after having been bitten by him saying that I had the holes in my neck now. So I did what Vicente said to do by waiting 3 days, and then sleeping. However, this did not work for me. My spell effects still shows that I have Poryphryic Hemophilia. I have left the DB base and rested outside of it as well but that didn't work either.

Does anyone know if by using the Purgeblood Salts it makes it impossible to become a vampire ever again? Please help because I really don't envy trying to get myself beat up by a bunch of crazy vampires just to get a disease!

I looked at the scripts for the vampire cure, and it sets the PCVampire variable to -1
Set PCVampire to -1
, if you're playing on a PC you could try using the console to set the variable to 0 or 1. Zero being a non-vampire, thus (I believe) allowing you to become one. One should mean you are a vampire, but probably will not work properly as the relevant effects have not been activated.

I suggest making new save before experimenting, and try setting the variable to zero
Set PCVampire to 0
, then contract the disease.

Hmm, thanks but unfortunately I am confined to playing Oblivion on the Xbox as my computer is so bad off I highly doubt it could even play Morrowind. I will try and find other methods of getting to be a vampire but it won't kill me to not be a vampire; I'm sure I'll get pver it eventually. Thanks for the help anyway Galraen!

No rest for the wicked (spoilers)

So from what I'm hearing, if you once become a Vampire, and cure it either by doing the Vampirism Cure quest or using purgeblood salts, and are using a console instead of PC, there is NO WAY you can become a Vampire again, correct? I'm starting a new Dark Brotherhood character, and while I would like to take Vincent's offer, I don't know that I want to be a Vamp for the whole game, as I will eventually have to kill him in order to become the Listener, and will have to rely on vamp-laden Forts if I wish to contract the disease. Just want to clarify that there isn't anything I can download for the XBOX 360 that will allow a return to Vampirism after being cured. Being a Vamp is kinda cool, but with my last character, it turned out to be kind of a pain in the saddle.:mischief:

Correct

I don't think you can use any unofficial mods with the Xbox 360 version of Oblivion.

Yeah, being a vampire is not only a pain in the butt, but your char gets seriously uglified!

However, it isn't as bad as all that to get infected in a fight with vamps.

Only in the later stages. I thought the red eyes during the first stage of vampirism looked kinda cool. :p

Never liked the look myself. :) I always wonder, though, why no other vampires look bad; it's just not right! They don't even seem to have red eyes - spoil

apart from the count of skingrad.
end spoil

I imagine you are referring to vamps you can meet in caves and the like? They always seemed to look rather gaunt and depressed to me.

Really? They look pretty normal to me... maybe my game representation of vamps is buggy, then? They look p'd off, but otherwise no worse than any other people - in fact, some 'normal' citizens look MUCH more unpleasant!
