I'm just beginning to play the game, but at a certain moment (I guess when fighting the zombies at Schuyler's) my perception has dropped. How can I regain this loss?

Odds are good that you're wearing a helmet.

Helmets reduce your perception by one point, and you can get it back by taking it off
