Either Snorri Sturleson, or Jimmy Hoffa. I forget which.

I hear they used an actual village in Wales as the filming site, and it's become something of a tourist attraction. Can you imagine wanting to go to a place where you feel eternally watched and depersonalized?

I wonder how many times this question's been asked in the past 2 weeks?
fable says: I hear they used an actual village in Wales as the filming site, and it's become something of a tourist attraction. Can you imagine wanting to go to a place where you feel eternally watched and depersonalized?
Different people enjoy different things. ;)

Prisoner was a fruity 60's TV show with Patrick McGoohan.

The "warden" was "no.1" - you never saw him.

The levels went up and the number of people went with them. There was a no2 and several no3's and McGoohan was a no9. Always trying to escape his faceless jail, not knowing why he was there. Psychadelic baby. :D

Filmed in real-life "village," the town of Portmeirion.

Actually McGoohan was Number 6, my old sig used to reference the show, "i am not a member number i am a free man"

"What do you want"
"Information"

"Who are you"
"I am Number 2"
"WHO is number 1"
"You are number 6"
"I am not a number i am a free man"

:D

Buck didn't make gamebanshee. Al Gore did. He's number 1.

Wasn't this also used as an intro to a (Iron Maiden?) song? :)

That also is not technically true, but i can't really go into specifics on this one ;) The last episode of the Prisoner is possibly the strangest thing to be ever seen on TV, it has so many levels, it is also very psychedlic ( ;) )

I thought that the last episode was cool, but the specific sequence i think we are thinking of (involving No. 1) was a letdown to me - reminded me of star trek. Anyway I can't be more specific without ruining the prisoner series ha ha ha like anyone cares.

I heard that the fanciful village where the series was filmed was constructed around 1900 by an eccentric nobleman, and it was a tourist attraction before the series was even set there. My favorite episode is "Happy Birthday" or something. Or the one where he runs for Mayor. Great show you can rent them and watch each one in order. I love how colorful it is.

That last episode was actually written by McGooghan himself, if I recall correctly. I never did care for it much, though I suspect I'd like it better if I saw it again, after so many years. :D

@Jaker, That episode is indeed very good, the way they are trying to discover whether he resigned because of a pursuit for power, very

My personal Favourite is Hammer & Anvil, that was very good, No.6 makes No.2 paranoid and eventually usurps him, i just loved the tricks No.6 played :)

That was the first episode with Leo McKern, right? He was also the #2 freed by the Prisoner in the last episode. In real life, McKern's always been something of an outsider, from the way I've heard it.
