GameBanshee is all about RPGs. No other genre. That's why an FPS like Far Cry won't be reported here. As for the game itself, can't say I'm looking forward to it as I have a great dislike for open-world games.

Poor performance. I've seen that in Oblivion, STALKER and Gothic 3. Of these three games, I was only able to complete STALKER but I did it just to get it over with, not because I enjoyed the game. It's not necessary linked. Morrowind didn't suffer because of that.

Are there other factors? Sure there are. Bugs, glitches, etc. But I gave up on the Witcher even though the game is very stable. Why? Performance issues. I was so frustrated with tinkering around to get a playable frame rate that I quit. I might play it again but only when I get a better machine.

And whenever I read about open-world games, I hear a lot of complaints of performance issues. These games want to remain open-world, and at the same time, focus on better graphics. All this just leads to crappy performance. How can a game be enjoyable when performance isn't stable? I'm sure not going to enjoy it when performance goes from smooth to slideshow-fest.

It may sound like me nit-picking here, but I consider performance and stability as important as the other aspects of a game.

I understand that. I lower my resolution a notch to get a better performance too. I can live with bad graphics, but the game has to run smooth. That's much more important.

I like openworld games as I can play them later when I have a computer that can handle the game easily and there are enough patches to fix most o the bugs. I update my computer so rarely that I can't play the new high-graphics games most of the time. Right now I can't play most of the games that will be released and I couldn't play CoD 4 or The Witcher.

Other FPS:s just aren't as good as openworlded.

Farcry is one of the best shooting game i ever played. it allows you to have a better grasp on real life weapons!!!

Well, I didn't find Far Cry that great, though. I preferred Half-Life 2 more. As for the weapons, it feels kind of floaty and underpowered.

As for Far Cry 2, I have to admit I am somewhat interested in it after watching some of it's gameplay videos.

maybe because you are into more futuristic game... we have different preferences in gaming.... but i must admit HL2 is one hell of a game.. it has this touch of addictive multiplayer... bu Farcry2 has its own identitiy.. and it rocks!!!

Ehh... not really. I'm fine with any setting, be they WW2, past, present or the future. It's just that I didn't find Far Cry that appealing compared to other shooters released during that same period, such as Half Life 2.

True, when I fired my M16 I couldn't believe it would kill something. Bad weapon design and bad sound effects, the same problem was in Battefield 1942.

How do you know that? People tent to do that, say a game rocks before they even played it? Own identity? What does that really mean?

This is well worth doing the game is much more playable, especially vehicles.

Gave it a spin since two days ago and I find it good so far. I find the setting itself interesting followed by the open-ended nature of the game. Weapons can degrade overtime, so I have to use them wisely instead of expending ammo freely (and wearing out the weapon sooner), though it sucks when the gun jams in the middle of a firefight. A lot more if you're using Western-made weapons.

Graphics overall are great and on par with most games released this year, though there are some slight graphical oddities in some instances, but nothing serious. The AI is pretty decent and able to put up a fight, but not really bright when driving a vehicle as they tend to crash a lot (especially into you). The use of the environment to your advantage is a plus, especially when you burn a patch of grass and wait for the wind to blow the fire right into the direction of the enemy encampment.

There are some things I didn't like about the game, such as the repetitiveness of the missions, coupled with a dull story and exploring the game world can be irritating because not only do you have to clear out checkpoints manned by both AFP and UFLL gangs and roaming vehicle patrols but the fact that these enemies respawn rather quickly (less than a minute) meaning that you will have to clear the same checkpoint over and over again and destroy the same vehicle patrol again.

P.S. I finished the game a few weeks ago and my experiences are the same as I was playing the game in the first week (mentioned in this post). Overall, good game, but is marred by flaws such as a dull and forgettable story coupled by the irritating respawn rates and repetitive missions.

I ended up playing Far Cry 2, I'm not all that crazy about it. I was really looking forward to this game but the driving really bothers me.

Online activation fails to work, did manual an the cd runs then it stops.
