Adding Enchants To Bows

I've had a look around and can't seem to find any confirmation for this. But when it comes to bows is it correct that you can only add a +1 to +5 enchant?
I've tried others and it always says it's an invalid enchant. I've tried each of the wood types and it says the same.
So it would seem that bows are the exception to the other weapons having three enchants.
Can anyone else confirm this for me please?
