Wandering around Chorrol you will hear rumors that a chap called Reynald Jemane has been to Cheydinhal recently, and while he was there he seemed to have lost his memory, as he did not recognize even his best friends from Chorrol. Follow your compass to find Reynald, who is usually in one of the inns (The Grey Mare is the most likely) and you'll find him pretty well legless.

He'll deny that he's ever been in Cheydinhal, and then offer you 50 gold to investigate who has been impersonating him. So go to Cheydinhal and ask around. You'll soon find out that there is a Guilbert Jermane in town. Track him down (using your compass), and you will discover that he is actually Jemane's twin brother. They were, as the title suggests, separated at birth, and have never met.

Guilbert is happy to find out that his brother exists and is alive, and proposes that you should meet them both back in Chorrol. When you do, they will both thank you mightily for reuniting them, and Jemane will give you your 50 gold. Speak again with Guilbert, and he will you offer you a new quest "Legacy Lost".
