Did we miss anything on this map? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!
1 - Arrival
You'll arrive from the second floor of the Mortuary at the top of the stairs here. Search the bookshelves to uncover a
Charcoal Charm, then head north to find a couple of Skeleton Workers standing near a mummified corpse. If you're desperate for some minor trinkets, such as an
Iron Spike or a
Wooden Club, you can pry the joint bolts holding the skeletons together and salvage the items from their crumpled remains. This certainly isn't necessary, though, and doesn't get you any experience.
Just to the west of the skeletons is a lone Dustman. When you get close enough to him, he will approach you and ask what you're up to. You can either try talking your way out of trouble or, if that fails, you can try to snap his neck before he can alert any guards (250 experience points and a weak resurfacing of another memory). Whether or not you're successful at these feats depends on the Nameless One's attributes, so if you didn't invest in the right statistics, then the Dustman will probably end up raising the alarm. If this happens, prepare yourself for a host of hostile bodies as you try to find a way out of the Mortuary.
One thing worthy of note is that once you've killed your first Dustman, you can grab his robes and don them as a disguise for the remainder of the Mortuary.
2 - Skeleton Worker #42
Somewhere in this vicinity you'll run into a Skeleton Worker marked with the number "42". If you studied Ei-Vene's hands on the previous level, then you will have had a memory surface pertaining to this very skeleton. When you cross your arms in front of the skeleton, it will drop its arms to the side and its ribcage will open up to reveal a small dimensional pocket.
Reach inside the ribcage and pull out the chunk of iron within (this will cause the skeleton to collapse), then examine it for 250 experience points. The iron will disintegrate to reveal a
Green Steel Knife, some rags, and a couple of
Clot Charms.
3 - Skeleton Worker #863
This skeleton is actually a walking messenger who just so happens to still have a note attached to its skull. Grab the Mortuary Reminder Message to learn that prybars work great for getting past storage cabinet locks.
4 - Shelving
Search the shelves along the northeast wall of this room to turn up a
Bone Charm, a
Corpse Fly Charm, a
Clot Charm, a
Dustman Embalming Charm (Lesser), and a Mortuary Task List written by someone who apparently oversaw this area.
If you spoke with the zombie at area #5 on
the second floor of the Mortuary, then you may have learned about a secret gate that will allow you passage out of the building. The Bone Charm found on the shelves here is the item necessary to open this portal, which you'll find at area #4 on
the first floor of the Mortuary.
5 - Zombie Worker #79
Examine the fanged circle that has been branded onto the forehead of zombie #79 to learn how to open the Ancient Copper Earring you found on the second floor. The next time you use the earring, you'll earn 250 experience points and the earring will become wearable (and more valuable). It has no magical properties, however.
Once you've solved the mystery of the earring, loot the shelves to find some coppers, two
Clot Charms, an
Iron Prybar, and a Dustman Request note that suggests that Skeleton Worker #42 might be hiding a "soul echo". Refer to area #2 to learn more about the skeleton's hidden compartment.
6 - Mortuary Sanctum Key
Grab the Mortuary Sanctum Key off the shelves here. You'll need the key to open the door to the stairs at area #7.
7 - Exit
Once you have the Mortuary Sanctum Key from area #6, you can access this area to find a
Hammer on one of the shelves. The stairs lead down to the original room you woke up in on
the second floor of the Mortuary.
