E3 RPG Feature Part Two

Enfused.com's second part of their E3 RPG feature has been posted up, giving a good rundown of Dungeon Siege. Check it out:

You can have up to 8 members in your party, including pack mules (down from 10 in earlier reports). Control of the party as a group is much like IE or RTS games. Characters do not actually "die" unless everybody in the party dies. Chris Taylor thinks that it is not fun to have to interrupt your adventure to go back to town and resurrect a fallen party member (I would agree with this). So, when a character is reduced to 0 hit points, he or she falls unconscious. After a certain amount of time passes, that character gets back up again on their own. Or you can heal them up if you don't want to wait. There are no character classes in the game, and a fairly small number of skills (Melee, Ranged, Good Magic, Evil Magic) and attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence). Your character becomes defined by the way in which you play the game -- if you fight with Melee weapons a lot, your skill in that area goes up.
