ONLINE GAME RECOGNIZED WITH ANNUAL AWARDS FROM USA TODAY, MSNBC, AMAZON, GAMESPOT, GAMESPY, GAMEPEN AND VOODOO EXTREME

FAIRFAX, VA - JANUARY 16, 2002 - Mythic Entertainment (www.mythicentertainment.com), co-publisher and developer of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Dark Age of Camelot, today celebrated having sold through over 200,000 copies and recognition as Game of the Year in a number of categories by industry press. Co-published with Abandon Entertainment (www.abandonent.com), Dark Age of Camelot continues to be critically acclaimed by reviewers. It remains the fastest growing MMORPG to date, having vaulted past Microsoft's Asheron's Call and into the number three spot among US based MMORPGs in terms of peak concurrent players gaining quickly on Sony's Everquest and EA's Ultima Online.

In the first of a number of major awards USA Today rated the game PC Top Game of the Year, calling it "One of the latest and brightest entries in the world of massively multiplayer 3-D realms." Cable channel MSNBC named Dark Age of Camelot PC Game of the Year.

Online gaming site GameSpot awarded the game their Multiplayer Role Playing Game of the Year award and named it one of the top ten PC games of 2001. The editors stated, "Dark Age of Camelot represents an important, evolutionary step for the online role-playing genre."

Influential publications Computer Gaming World and PC Gamer joined in the praise of this game with PC Gamer giving it an Editors' Choice Award and a 90% rating, the highest ever for a MMORPG. CGW agreed also giving it an Editors' Choice award, a "four and one half" star review and said "The game play's the thing, though, and in Dark Age it's the best I've yet experienced in an online RPG".

GameSpy announced that Dark Age of Camelot received the award for PC Role Playing Game of the Year 2001. The site's readers agreed, selecting the game for the Gamer's Choice award in the same category, explaining how "...nothing gripped voters as much as the unique player-vs-player combat."

GamePen named the game Best PC Online Game, calling it "the model for future MMORPG's" and praising it with a perfect five star review. Online retailer Amazon.com recognized the game as #2 in its list of top ten PC titles from 2001. Finally, Voodoo Extreme recognized the game on several fronts, naming it Best Role Playing Game, Best PC Game, and overall PC Game of the Year 2001 suggesting, "...if you had to pick one game to play for an entire year, Dark Age of Camelot could easily fit the bill."

On behalf of the development team, Mark Jacobs, President of Mythic Entertainment, thanked all the reviewers and players for the recognition and accolades. "We are proud to have received so many awards for excellence. We worked hard through 2001 to meet our first goal of having the most successful launch of any MMORPG but that is not enough for us. We'll work even harder in 2002 and beyond to meet our second goal, to build Dark Age of Camelot into the leading MMORPG in the world. That is the best way we can thank the players that continue to flock to the game and live up to the awards received."
