Larian Studios’ award-winning RPG Divinity: Original Sin II is apparently looking to become just as ubiquitous as Bethesda’s Skyrim. And with the realms of PC and consoles already conquered, Larian has now set their sights on the iPad.
Revealed during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, this new port is being developed in collaboration with Apple and Elverils. It will feature redesigned controls and a number of new features that are going to be revealed at a later date.
This announcement tweet shows off the game’s menu screen running on an iPad:

And this press release shares some additional information:
DUBLIN — June 26, 2020 — Larian Studios is excited to announce that the team behind the Metacritic Must-Play RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is working with Apple and Elverils on an Apple iPad port of the game. The project was revealed as a key title driving demos at this year’s WWDC event. In a video for developers about Xcode12 and Metal Apps released during WWDC 2020, Apple showcased the new iPad version of the BAFTA award-winning adventure.
The team is working on adding all-new touchscreen controls and UI, as well as controller support. What’s shown in the WWDC video in terms of features on the menu is not 100% final (the full list of features will be announced at a later date). Though the port is a long way from release, Larian is excited to iterate on it together with some of the top minds in Apple and iPad development. Elverils helmed the already released MacOS edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Originally released to critical acclaim on PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 received a 93 Metacritic rating and is currently one of only a handful of games to receive a 10/10 from GameSpot. It was released for Nintendo Switch last year, featuring cross-save progression with Steam.
