- Multiplayer games only allow deathmatches, and half-baked ones at that. There is no skirmish mode against the AI. There is no way to change the game speed in multiplayer games, which are already a disorienting staccato affair with each player pausing every time he gives orders to one of his characters. There are no team games. For some odd reason, scoring doesn't take into account certain types of attacks. You can't check the score during a game. Matches end suddenly with very little information offered by way of a debriefing and you can't even examine hero stats and capabilities when you're choosing your team from the multiplayer set up screen.
As it is now, multiplayer games are a good way to beat up on other heroes to test the different powers, but they're most notable for their unrealized potential. Fortunately, Freedom Force has enough of a single-player game to sustain itself until someone fleshes it out, whether it's Irrational themselves or the devoted fan base sure to spring up around this fond nod to the Silver Age of comic books.
