Q: What kind of design process did you go through when it comes to the mobile controls?
A: Getting the control scheme down can be tricky, especially since there is so much variation between all of the different handsets on the market. This is particularly true for a game like Baldur's Gate, where there are controls for things besides basic navigation. You need to be able to select your target, view your inventory, and use your spells or feats with ease at any time. We developed a number of different schemes and got input from many different sources, including focus groups. Based on that feedback, we were able to create a key-mapping that was both easy and comfortable to use.
