Q: Is Flagship going to be creating its own graphics and network technology for its games or will you be licensing existing tech?
A: We have our own 3D engine up and running, and are putting in new features every day. It's fantastic to me to see how fast the guys are getting art and code to mesh and it's been a blast just throwing ideas around and tackling problems. 3D programming tools, the knowledge base, and the video cards are so much more advanced now then they were even three years ago. This had made our job easier in some regards, and more challenging in others, but we've been making some pretty amazing progress. It probably helps that all three of the programmers (David, Tyler and Peter) are driven workaholics when they sink their teeth into something they really enjoy.
As for network technology, we are planning on having a strong multiplayer component to the game, so we will need to give our network model serious attention and time. As with any decision of this nature, we'll take a long look at the possibilities, argue like fiends about it, and then pick what we think will be best for the game.
