In the previous diary, Technical Director Sebastian Tusk already discussed the evaluation of the technical scope. The style we developed did depend on the input we received from the game designers. The first basic direction and premise Carsten, the Lead Designer, had in mind was realism.
That might sound strange since our game is set in the year 2083, but it just means that we're trying to avoid elements that could be totally out of place. Mankind has technologically advanced, but we would have found it over the top, had they been able to, let's say, build beam devices in order to travel from one spot to another. So, futuristic objects were supposed to have at least some realistic elements to them.
One activity precedes the actual style creation, research. The Fall takes place in the southwest of the USA. Input from those in our team who had spent some time in that region was very helpful. We also studied tons of videos and photos from smaller towns, particular houses and their interiors, to get a grasp of and a feeling for the setting.
