Penny Arcade Expo to Host First Guild Wars® Live Event
Seattle, Washington - August 3, 2006 - Penny Arcade Inc. today announced that next month's Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) game culture celebration in Washington State will play host to the first ever Guild Wars® Live Event. ArenaNet® and NCsoft® will sponsor the epic Guild War Factions™ battle between the Luxons and Kurzicks at PAX, which takes place in Bellevue, Washington August 25-27th. In addition PAX attendees can compete for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes by playing Guild Wars at the PAX 10K Arena.
"The Guild Wars Live Event is a one-of-a-kind competition and every PAX attendee gets to play," said Penny Arcade's events manager Mike Fehlauer. "PAX is growing so quickly because the industry is really bringing its best offerings to the show. At the Expo developers and the hardcore players that drive this industry can directly interact like never before, and the Guild Wars Live Event is a great example of one of those unique events gamers will love."
Every PAX attendee is eligible to participate in the first Guild Wars Live Event and can complete through eight different challenges and a final quest to earn faction points for territory control and prizes along the way. Challenge and Quest stations will be located throughout PAX and results will be updated several times a day at the Guild Wars booth on the giant Cathan map. Members of the faction that conquer the most territory will receive a dual-trial of Guild Wars Propheciesâ„¢ and Guild Wars Factionsâ„¢, some will win PAX prize tickets, and five lucky winners will go home with the ultimate Guild Wars prize pack, including a copy of Guild Wars Factions; a Guild Wars Factions sweatshirt; a Logitech mouse, keyboard and speakers; and an ATI video card.
As part of the PAX 10K Arena, PAX attendees will be able to play a special sealed-play, 4v4 player vs. player match up version of the revolutionary online role-playing game Guild Wars. Players may enter with a team, or as an individual. Single players will be matched up with a team. The highest scoring team from each qualifying round advances to the semi-finals. Prizes will be awarded to the teams placing 1st through 8th place. For complete rules and regulations visit www.guildwars.com.
