The Bard's Tale Review

When you add it all up you're left with a game that has a refreshing story, a wonderfully unique leading man, great voice acting, good graphics, good music, and a mediocre combat system. I really enjoyed my time adventuring with the Bard. Through his personality and the game's script, it was a tale unlike any other I've experienced in a videogame. If the combat system were better, The Bard's Tale would be among the best titles of 2004. Unfortunately the combat knocks it down to the next echelon. Compared to other action-RPGs I've enjoyed in 2004, The Bard's Tale is better than Demon Stone and not quite as good as X-Men Legends. I truly hope inXile makes a sequel and addresses the game's shortcomings because it's on the verge of something incredible.
