Citing a number of insider sources and notable leakmongers, this VGC article suggests that a new Knights of the Old Republic game is currently being developed by a team unrelated to either BioWare or EA.
And while a decade ago, I would be jumping up and down at the prospect of getting another KOTOR, today I’m just not sure there’s a developer out there capable of pulling it off while also dealing with all the modern AAA sensibilities. I guess, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Here’s a quick excerpt from the article to give you a better idea of what we know at this point:
“Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere,” Bespin Bulletin said. “I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game.”
On broader plans for Star Wars game, the insider said he’d heard that “a bounty hunter game” was being developed somewhere and that EA was working on a “smaller” Star Wars game.
“I don’t know if the bounty hunter game is with them or if it’s with Ubisoft. But yeah, EA is working on stuff and there’s another unannounced [Star Wars] game at EA, which I have no idea what it is. I don’t think it’s Battlefront 3.”
