Q: Why does the EULA for NWN require that mods aren't sold? My thinking here is that there are probably multiple issues but that the most important one was that you don't own the D&D license. Is that correct or was that not a major factor? What are other factors?
A: I'm no lawyer but from what I understand the EULA basically says that anything created using the NWN Aurora engine is property of BioWare. The thinking behind this statement, which has a major impact on the community, is that we developed the engine and toolset that runs the game, so unless you have purchased a license to use the Aurora engine, we have the right to declare whatever you created falls under the EULA you agreed to when you installed Neverwinter Nights. The idea that BioWare does not own D&D is not really the issue unless we are talking about copyright violation or use of content that is the domain of Wizards of the Coast.
