Now that PC Games has reached its subscribers, some first, scant details for Risen 3: Titan Lords have been summarized by the World of Risen forums in English. My German isn't exactly perfect, but I still believe I can do a better job than Google Translate:
Battle system:
- There is a prologue section in which you can already experiment with mit high-level abilities, after which you continue as a level 1 character
- Monsters can be blocked
- From the beginning an evasion roll and a short distance teleport are already available to escape from battles
- Big armors and swords, and also fireball und lightning attack
- Voodoo magic is expected to be included again
- Unconscious enemies can be robbed again
- Party members, who help in battle, appear again
- Battle system with four different actions and rudimentary combos
- DLC offer bigger scope
- Roasting meat, and similar actions take place in a separate window again
- Game world: primarily Middle-european, but there also Mediterranean and tropical regions
- The world is again completely hand-crafted by Piranha Bytes
- It's possible to swim again
- As in Risen 2 there are separate regions - free exploration of the game world without loading screens is also again not possible
- As always there are many guilds (probably three) you can associate yourself with
- Already known are the Watchers, which correspond to the Paladins of the earlier games
- New enemy: the Shadow (Undead, that rise from the Skull Caves)
- The soul of the main character is eaten by a mighty shadow lord at the beginning
- Afterwards he gets a "soul value", which can be tipped in the demonic or human direction.
- A new hero, but the protagonist of the previous games will still play an important role
- All food is again listed as "Provisions" in your inventory
Technical:
- Steam requirement and no mod tools, like Risen 2
- The game is developed for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 -next gen consoles weren't mentioned in the preview
- The engine is the same as Risen 2's, with improved detail rendering - but the cons of Risen 2's graphics (e.g. the rudimentary dialogue animations) should still be present and when compared in particular with its competitors The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dragon Age: Inquisition, aren't up to modern standards.
- Expected Release: August 2014
