Hollywood Chicago gives it a score of 4.5/5:
(Puzzle Quest 2) also features a multiplayer mode, allowing for combat across the Xbox Live interface. You can even use your upgraded, developed hero in combat. Practice against the AI Orcs and then take him on the road. I had a tough time finding anyone to play with over the just-passed holiday weekend having created matches and searched for matches several times to no avail. I hope that's not a sign of the lack of popularity of this title, one of the best currently on XBLA. You won't find a more addictive title this season for the Nintendo DS or Xbox Live Arcade. Start your quest.
XXL Gaming gives it a score of 85/100:
For an Xbox Live Arcade game that followed a tried-and-true formula of puzzle and RPG elements, Puzzle Quest 2 does well to capitalize on that success. As a fan of both collectable card games and dice games, it would be nice to see a progression for the next game that includes those other very addicting elements as well.
ZTGD gives it a score of 8.8/10:
As a whole, to any fan of RPGs, as well as puzzle games, I have to recommend you purchase this game. It is fun, addictive and will take you hours and hours to finish. I know there are some people that will be playing this game for the rest of the summer, and they have a very good reason to be. They have taken the almost perfected formula of the first game and made it better, while inviting in new players to experience one of the best puzzle games I have ever played. I hope you all have some space cleared this summer, because one you jump in, it's really hard to back out.

All in all Puzzle Quest 2 is a game that everyone should experience. It's fast paced puzzle based combat is both fun and addicting and while the story may not be a true RPG epic it's enough to hold you attention and will keep you busy for a good length of time.
Go Fanboy gives it a score of 9.0/10:
This sequel should live up to and surpass the expectations that many will have for it based on the success of the original. The new views and removal of random unavoidable battles are enough to win over fans of the first game; and combined with the other minor tweaks throughout PQ2, it's definitely worth picking up. The fact that the story isn't exactly tied down to the original also means anyone who picks this sequel up will have no problem jumping in and feeling at home. Puzzle Quest 2 is now available for the Nintendo DS from D3Publisher.
And News10's Game Guys gave it a score of "B+":
Puzzle Quest 2's story isn't gripping nor thrilling enough to hold your interest. It's all about the leveling up here. But it's still a perfect DS title for people who love puzzles or people who love RPGs. It's a combination of RPG and puzzles that's feels just right and creates a new form of fun.
