The tools are the last area to cover, but will perhaps be the game's most solid life support for staying on retailer's shelves. The Aurora toolset has had 10 people working on it for the last few years to make the system as robust as possible. Blizzard made an excellent map editor for Warcraft II and Starcraft, anyone who has used the tools can tell you that it was incredibly simple to work up a map, simply choose the tiles you want and start painting. Fundamentally the Aurora toolset works the same way, except that it goes several orders of magnitude deeper. Creating environments is as simple as selecting the tileset, then painting down what you want to see. Then the designer can get right down and start customizing the environment with a slew of prefabs. Most people will probably start with the extensive Wizard system, everything from weapon and monster creation to map generation can be done through a series of simple wizard interfaces. Every element can then be hand tweaked to achieve the desired result. The only thing not included it would seem, is a spell checker.
