The game handles character skills in an interesting way. It allows players to choose skills from either of the classes they are a part of and learn them in any order. There are no prerequisites required for any specific skill. In fact, the only thing required is that you are a part of the class the skill belongs to. For example, a Warrior/Ranger can learn Warrior and Ranger skills but cannot learn skills belonging to the Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer or Monk character classes.
It is unclear whether there are limitations to which skills or how many skills you can learn that belong to your secondary class but there are no limitations when it comes to your primary class. The only limitation is that you need an available skill point in order to learn the skill.
Characters earn skill points by leveling up their characters. Each level up gives your character 1 skill point. Some missions may give a character point as part of a reward.
