This is the part of the change that will generate most of the confusion and outrage. What happens to the player who's spent months or years playing a character whose profession isn't on the list? The short answer is, that profession won't exist anymore. In some cases, such as Teras Kasi artists, chefs and fencers, have been incorporated into one of the nine Iconic Classes, which, for the most part, have what can best be termed sub-classes. Others, like creature handlers and bio-engineers, will no longer exist. Pre-existing Jedi characters will still be able to be Jedi and will receive certain perks for being what SOE is calling "Elders."
