Miscellaneous: Junk Dealers
Overview
At various places in the wasteland, you'll meet NPCs who will offer you deals on "junk" items, or items that you wouldn't otherwise pick up. Listed below are the items they'll ask you for, so you'll know what to collect:
-
Blood Packs. After completing the side quest
Blood Ties, if you negotiated a deal with the Family involving
Blood Packs, then you'll be able to sell
Blood Packs to Vance in the
Meresti Metro Station for 15 caps each.
-
Brotherhood of Steel Holotags. Scribe Jameson in the A Ring of the
Citadel will reward you with 100 caps and 25 experience points for each
Brotherhood of Steel Holotag that you bring her.
-
Fire Ant Nectar. After completing the side quest
Those!, Dr. Lesko will leave the metro tunnels and return to his shack in
Grayditch. If you talk to him there, then he'll offer you 40 caps each for
Fire Ant Nectar. Unfortunately, no new fire ants will appear after completing
Those!, and so Dr. Lesko probably won't prove to be much of a source of income for you.
-
Nuka-Cola Quantum. During the side quest
The Nuka-Cola Challenge, you'll receive 40 (or 80) caps for each bottle of
Nuka-Cola Quantum that you bring to Sierra or Ronald in
Girdershade. After completing the quest, Sierra will continue to buy bottles from you, and she'll pay you 50 caps each.
-
Nuka-Cola Quantum,
Flour, and
Vodka. After completing the side quest
The Nuka-Cola Challenge, if you ask Sierra in
Girdershade about Nuka-Cola recipes, then she'll offer to bake you
Mississippi Quantum Pies, provided that you bring her the necessary ingredients.
-
Pre-War Books. If you're polite to Scribe Yearling at the
Arlington Library, then she'll tell you that she's scavenging
Pre-War Books for the Brotherhood of Steel, and she'll offer you 100 caps (plus 10 experience points) for each one that you bring her. You'll find
Pre-War Books all over the wasteland, but the library itself and
Minefield are a couple of good sources for them.
-
Scrap Metal. After fixing the leaky pipes in
Megaton, Walter (usually in the water processing plant) will buy
Scrap Metal from you for 10 caps (plus 5 experience points) each. You can also just give the Scrap Metal to Walter and receive karma instead.
-
Scrap Metal. When you arrive in
Underworld, Winthrop will offer to trade you
Stimpaks,
Rad-X, or
RadAway in exchange for
Scrap Metal. However, since you'll need five pieces of
Scrap Metal for each item, Walter's deal (see above) is better.
-
Sugar Bombs. Murphy in the
Northwest Seneca Station will offer you 15 (or 30) caps for each package of
Sugar Bombs that you bring him.
