I just kept playing and after I leveled up it went away. Not quite sure what happened there.

ruins?(spoiler)

if your talking about the door in the ruins under the beholder caves you don't have to open the door. continue on through the ruins and you will find a boss. beat that and continue past it. it leads to the same place the door does.

do you have all four or just the compas to find the 4th? I guess that sounds like a stupid question. don't be offended if you seriously have found all 4.

prayer bag

Food can be used in the prayer bag combined with another item to create creatures/protectors. You have to keep your eye out for the bags in shops and they cost a bundle. If there are other uses I'm not sure what they are.
