NWN looks like a great game, but do you vets recommend it to a BG2, IWD, Dugeon Siege, and KotoR vet?
Edit:Im looking at buying, but I'm not sure yet, recommendation would help sway my decison.

John 3:16-17
16-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, so that anyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
17-Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Well - if you can spare the money, I'd buy it for sure. There are many hours locked away in NwN and due to the expansions there are many ways to make your character and play it.
Unfortunally - the game is quite linear and have diablo-like tendencies (hehe) with many monsters. But that being said - it is (imo) one of the best RPG games out there, and if you play mulitplayer you can find months and years of fun on the web.
Try playing some PW Roleplaying worlds and you can get very close to PnP roleplaying. (unfortunally - the official campaigns aren't much in that direction).
But all in all - I find it a very good game - better then SW:KotoR, but worse then BG-series (except in multiplayer where BG sucked
) Personally - I also find it way better then IWD (never played DS, so can't comment on that)

Two questions you may want to ask yourself that will help with this question.
1. Did you enjoy Dungeon Siege? If you did - you will probably find the hack and slash nature of single player NWNs to be acceptable. NWNs single player campaign is about middle of the road between the extreme hack and slash of DS and the roleplaying in BG.
2. Do you plan to play multiplayer? If yes - you are on the right track. NWNs was designed as a multiplayer game where players and dungeon masters could party up and duplicate pen and player roleplaying. The single player campaigns are IMHO decent tutorials that allow you to explore the game engine. Multiplayer is where NWNS shines - I would have a hard time recommending the game to someone who does not plan to expore multiplayer. If you are only going to play with yourself (heh) then you may want to look at Greyhawk: Temple of Elemental Evil first.
Keep in mind that one of the other main attractions of NWNs is the availability of thousands of player created modules that you can download for free. They make the game infinitely replayable.

IWD and BG fan
I've run into my share of graphics issues with the game that I never saw in IWD1 and 2. DO NOT buy TOEE that game is a piece of crap. When gameplayers have to come out with a patch to make the game playable because the company couldn't get its act together people should not continue to purchase the game. I own it and regret it but can't return it cause I tried to play it. DS and Arcanum were both good games but a bit too easy to beat. Not enough game play hours but NWN has the expansions so it keeps on going.
Give NWN a try its worth the cash, but be prepared to buy the expansion, the game gets really addictive.

If you enjoyed those games, I would first suggest Planescape: Torment. It's got roleplaying that's on par with BG2, and Bioware's developers actually gave credit to PS:T for providing insights that helped improve their final product. PS:T is no longer being manufactured, but it can be purchased easily and cheaply through Yahoo, eBay, etc, where it shows up regularly.
The original NWN had a lousy full campaign. It's two expansion successors are far better. There are also some superb mods out there. In fact, I started a thread a few weeks ago about mods--it should be on the first or second page, here. The excellent mod authors recommended in it produced enough material to last quite a while.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

@Fable- Ill look into PS:T. I saw strategy guide in one of my old PC Gamers, it looks pretty interesting. Ill probably play that one first b/c itll be cheaper.
