You lucky people ! here in europe we havent yet seen a byte of a 1st patch.

The game is quite good but nothing real new under the pixelized skies: isometrics view, small sprites (though large+ creature look real good), animiations are ok but lack energy (i remember some PS-Torment spell effects ...

I've also had a real slow down of my system in this zone (fire temple, 2nd level under).
I guess its either because its heavyly scripted or because of the graphical resource needed.
Try reducing the graphical ressource (option: low down the sliders, uncheck the boxes) - in my case i gained a few ...

ok, i used the power word "websearch" and found a french forum where there was a patch for our little - european wide - problem.

toee.free.fr/ressource/Cupids_Arrows_UPDATE.zip

unzip the file in ..\Temple of Elemental Evil\data\scr

it fixes the dialogue and you get the holy sword.
strange thing ...

During combat, the staff of striking (remember, you might have nicked it from Lareth) deals normal (Lethal) damage (at no cost, but you can use some if you want to finish him more quickly).
Also, spells deal leathl damage (magic missils ? Melf acid arrows ? didnt have time to check, my rogue/fighter ...

Same problem here.
Gotta point i've got the french unpatched version.
Implemented Co8 mod-patch though.
I think the quest is simply broken on french version. One more bug... :-(
