I had that same problem. I assume you put down your weapons as soon as they asked? If you do that, the game glitches, and I cannot for the life of me find a way out. If you have an autosave (right before the hk's), go back to that and don't give up your weapons right away. Say something like, "who ...

PC1 is a (and the only) Cleric of a diety he invented - Tulocks, the god of lechery and revelry.

PC2 is a Dwarven defender called Gropius.

They, and two others are fighting in a drow dungeon, and are presently engaged in melee inside a sphere of darkness.

PC2: I swing my two handed axe at the ...

robotic admiration responses

I particularly love the way admiration can ovveride any situation in the game, be the NPC a god who hates you, peasant you just stole from, or...

"um, can I help you?"
(zzt - ultimate compliment attack)
"I hadn't noticed, thanks. Wait, what did I just say?"

undead

actually, I kept playing my necro, and about lvl 22 (can't remember exactly), undead upgrade to apocolyptic boneguards and festering drowned dead - both of which are amazing. The boneguards are unmatched for damage (+fire) and the drowned are bristling with enfeebles (area disease/weakness ...

setting & practicals

As all DM's have to manage their prep time - for both their and the players' sanity, it's always a good idea to focus on details that will be the most useful and versatile. One of the best I've found is setting. By that I mean both the terrain/ecology and the human (or ...

make hp work for you

To a large extent, I agree with the original post. HP can be severely unrealistic - like a tank of gas you just need to fill up every so often. I mean, even on some short campaigns I've done, pc's would in all fairness have come away decrepit cripples, barely able to get the ...

An easy way to find out if shades or greater shadow has the higher % hp, is to find a level where they can both summon the same creatures and then pit them against one another - I see you did something like that for the gate-like spells. Maybe I'll try it and post again. Also, I note that there are ...

druid

i'm currently going through HoF with two drow sorcerers. One is necromancy/death spells, the other is pure self-enhancing - i.e. mirror, bull's, cats, spirit armor, haste, stoneskin, blur, trollish fortitude, and tensor's. awesome combo, but only works with the pair. If you were going to go ...

horrid & banshee

i generally use my sorc/necro to send out some skeleton goons and then chain cast horrid wilting - undead are immune. if they get too close, i use wail of the banshee - which i've seen take out 10 people at a time on HoF mode.
