Well, I got through it! I did three things at the same time so I am not sure if it is one or a combination of them that did it.
1. I set my Graphics Card to no hardware acceleration.

I am having the same trouble. Does anyone have any help? I will try to change the game resolution and mess with my Video card. . . .

Am playing through IWS2 again after a long while and I have run into the same problem. The game time seems to keep going as spells wear off etc. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling without the patch. Did not work. I tried it again with the patch. Did not work.
