Fell Wood Bug??

Post by DraedLord »

I'm in Fell Wood. Have just killed the off all the Dakr Treants. As soon as I do, the game hangs. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And do you HAVE to kill the Treants to go on or is there some other way?

I have not expirienced any bugs but I think you do have to beat the tryants or whatever they are called to move on.

Yes, Im about 99% certain you need to kill the Dark Treants to advance th plot and continue the game. Been awhile since I've been there so might be wrong in some of my suggestions.

Maybe there is a cutscene movie after you kill the last treant and setting graphics acceleration a little bit lower will stop it from hanging. I don't think there is a movie at this point, but perhaps someone else can verify that. My brain is a little fuzzy right now.

Sometimes with different games I've been able to ALT/TAB the game then restore to clear up little graphics hanging glitches. Seemed to work for me in PS/T

You're Right

Yes, it is a bug. I had to fight the battle twice because of it. After you defeat the Dark Treants lights appear at the NW edge of the screen (indicating the final exit from Fell Wood). If you don't have a character with line of sight to see the area light up the game hangs up. Pain in the butt. Just try to engage the Treants a little closer to the middle of the area.

After I got your message, I tried this to no avail. :( Thank you for your response. However, I would like to note that while looking through this and other forums, other ATHLON users like myself, make up about two thirds of the "bug" reports.

No Kidding?

I'm an Athlon user myself. Do you have an Nvidia card perchance? I've been using the old 30.81 WHQL drivers, because there are some game problems with the new 40.41 Dets. Just a suggestion. AMD and Nvidia don't always mix well.

Well, I got through it! I did three things at the same time so I am not sure it is was one or a combination of them that did it.
1. I set my Graphics Card to no hardware acceleration.
2. I set the resolution of IWD2 to th lowest 800x600
3. Before I entered the area where the Dark Treants attack I has my thief hide. When the treants attacked me I sen my hidden thief up toward the center of the area so that he would have a clear view of the area where the exit was supposed to appear. I then used the rest of my party to dispatch the dark treants and the new exit appeared just as it should!

Hope this helps someone else who has the same problem.
