I actually expected BioWare to make it. Yes, their long term strategy is to move to their own IPs, but I thought they may want to hedge their bets just in case it does not work out as well as planned. I guess I was wrong.

"Bioware is currently NOT developing BG-3"

It appears that BioWare is not the developer for Baldur's Gate 3. Please read this for more info: http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic ... 4&forum=77

New NPCs please! :)

A few cameo appearances of old NPCs (Spectator Beholder comes to mind as does Minsc & Boo) would, however, be fine as long as they do not overdo it.

I will add another thing that 3D offers: Multi-level terrain! Yes, 2D engine can be 'cheated' into simulating that to an extent, but nowhere near as well as a 3D one. You can have bridges with people underneath and on top simultaneously and many other such features. Really, the only problem I have ...

I do not mind 3D graphics at all. TOEE, for example, had excellent graphics, though other parts of the game were lacking. What I do mind is a radical change in camera perspective from the current isomteric-like view. If they simply tweak the camera that is fine, but if they make it over-the-shoulder ...

The PC Gamer article explicitly stated that Baldur's Gate 3 will NOT reuse the Infinity Engine and will be 3D, but also they are not yet certain whether they will license an engine or develop their own.

Well - firstly - Fallout is a cRPG where the fans are fighting hard for Isometric view and most fans feel it is important for the game - so BG is not special in that regards, and ....

More power to the Fallout fans (among whom I count myself, though not to the same degree that I am a fan of ...
Well - many cRPGs runs with this view, so I wouldn't call it the "setting apart" feature of BG.
Yes, many do, but I believe it is essential to the feel to Baldur's Gate, as opposed to other games that do not. I am very dismayed by the fact that they want to change the ...

The following are IMO essential to any future Baldur's Gate game (NOT in order of importance):

1) Epic & Excellent Storyline
2) Long Game/Lots of Gameplay (Think 200 hours like BG II had)
3) Possibility of reaching high in terms of power of the character and party
4) Huge, detailed world to ...

Every big new game today simply has to be 3D. There is simply no way around it, or else the game would be left behind by competition and only a few hardcore fans like us would play it. I liked the 2D graphics of BG II, but I do not think 3D graphics would spoil the game - in fact, it would probably ...
