Zartul, I never waited around once to heal. For a solo character there are enough healing potions to heal yourself through the whole game even if you didn't have ring of gaax or regen (I had both equipped all the time.) For my Berserker's weapon proficiencies I divided it up between dual wielding ...

Riverwind, How can a class "not qualify" as a soloer. Anyone that you use by himself/herself is a soloer?

Interesting idea on the swashbuckler/cleric, I personally don't like thief or ranger characters, though.

I may bring out the blade for my next try.

I was going to give you the low-down, but after I started writing I realized that Nighthawk gave an excellent summary, so I'll just back him up.

The expert Soloer's thread

Soloing is my personal favorite way to play through Baldur's Gate II. I have solo'd through the game completing every optional quest with three different classes. The Monk, the Berserker, and the Sorcerer. My favorite was the Berserker. I also liked the Sorcerer. I felt kind of cheap with the monk's ...

First, I would like to say that I think Kensai Mage is only fun with the cap on, without, it gets ridiculous (my opinion) so I would go with the sorcerer.

Also, how the heck did Ripper get 20 Skeleton Warriors. I thought you could only get 5??

After I read this post I loaded up my solo sorcerer's final save and sure enough, even the SLAYER can't hit the dang things! Because of this I would have to agree that it is at least a little too powerful.

I noticed that no one included Power Word Kill in their 9th level. I think that spell is great. Besides taking out about 80% of the mages in the game, you can use it to finish off "badly injured" anything. Notables like all 5 dragons, Bhodi, and the Slayer fell (after some spell triggered Lower ...

I had to respond to this thread because I don't think that it has been emphasized just enough how dumb Rgiskard is. I find it hard to believe that he has actually ever played the game of BGII. My theory is that he doesn't even have the game and he is posting for the heck of it. Ex: "For instance the ...

I'm with Nael. Evil and Solo is the best of both worlds. I've solo'd through the game with a sorcerer, a berserker, and a monk and all three were more fun for me than playing through with a party

I personally hate multi-classes. I would much rather play with a blade that a f/m/t. In my opinion, it's better to have a character that really reigns down destruction in what he is good at than one that is mediocre in several areas. This said, some of the really bad-A items in BG2 (Staff of Maji ...

Wisdom doesn't affect your mages learning 9th level spell, that is intellect. Also, you probably already know this but just in case- you can't use 9th level spells unless you remove the xp cap.

I agree with you all to a certain extent. However, I think that taking over 150 days is somewhat ridiculous (my opinion) I took my time and beat every quest that I know of in the game, and I still finished in 99 days. What are you doing that could take 200+ days?

Orion, I'm currently in Chapter 7 with a solo sorcerer. As far as traps go, try using mirror image and stoneskin, because there is no way that you can disable them. Also, to defeat the lesser golems you should use the lvl 4 spell spider spawn

Solo Sorcerer question

I'm soloing with a solo sorcerer and have completed pretty much all of the Ch 2 quests including Fikraag and the Shade Dragon. I just killed the two Liches for Kangaax, brought him his body parts and took him out. But then, when he transforms into the demi-lich, I couldn't beat him. He wasn't ...
