Can I hire more than one henchman? and how do I open that door in the graveyard?

I can't defeat the yuan-ti in the graveyard. she is too powerful and resists my ghoul touch, besides she always cures herself, wenn she is badly injured or near death. My main character is a sourcerer, but I can't cast spells, all of them but light are inactive? why, what do I have to do in order to cast a spell? amd how can I defeat these gang leaders in the peninsula district, they are so difficult to kill.

My difficulty-level ist easy, but bg is not easy at all. i have to reload a lot of times to defeat a 3-4 mind flyers or vampires. can it be a bug, that it's so difficult, or it's only that I am a bad player? I have the original version, no patches installed (if any)
