I agree with Cren. Play the game at least the first time in vanilla mode. Save the mods for refreshing subsequent runs thru the game. First see the game that the developers wanted you to see.

I played thru the whole saga only once (I have yet to cast a real-life Time Stop spell). I ran a single ...

Check your installation's game version with the official "last" version, i.e. do you have the TotSC patch installed?

(You don't need the BG patch, because installing the expansion pack automatically patches the main game. The only patch you may need is the TotSC patch.)

No matter what classes you have, a 6-character party will beat the game no-problem.

However, you mentioned inter-party banter being important. I should point out that there are pairs of NPC's that provide more banters when both are present in the party at the same time, than they normally would if ...

I actually quite like Jaheira as a character, but she really doesn't fit all that well into an evil party.
You have Viccy for healing, so you'll manage that way.
I second this notion.

I've never heard of such a thing, in all my years. All 37.5 of them.

There ain't no kinda surgery to turn it off, so to speak?

I'm fairly certain your Reputation score has something to do with an NPC disappearing, or staying put, when you dismiss them. In early chapters Jaheira (and Khalid), for example, would stay put if dismissed. But Jaheira always disappeared whenever I dismissed her (taking Khalid too!) after ...

Methinks the only way you'll be able to play/roleplay a fallen cleric is by self-imposed rules and penalties.

First, based on your roleplaying style, decide what initiates becoming a "fallen" cleric. Maybe your cleric becomes fallen when your party's rep score falls below a certain point?

Then ...

I have for sometime now been playing Icewind dale, and somewhere along my path i found out that i wanted to play a game with a solid story. So i turned to Baldurs gate
A fine choice. And allow me to introduce Planescape:Torment for your solid story needs. Later, try Fallout 1 & 2.

I wonder if ...

*** Spoilers ***

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC, Minsc's quest of rescuing Dynahier from the Gnoll Stronghold is ten days, which starts as soon as he is added to your party for the first time.

If you haven't rescued Dynahier from the Gnoll Stronghold by the 10 day mark, then Minsc ...

I second this sentiment. If this is your first time through the story, you really need to take Imoen and Yoshimo.

I'm not sure if or how the in-game music is extractable from the game's installation.

But I do have the music tracks in mp3 format on the bonus cd that came with the Collector's Edition of BG2:SoA.

And I also have the BG1 soundtrack CD that came with the BG1 Original Saga box set.

And I also have ...

My system is a 32 bit, so I guess the extra memory won't help after all.
I must respectfully disagree.

I have Windows XP 32-bit with 4GB of memory installed. Because of 32-bit limitations, the operating system will only read a little over 3GB of the installed memory.

But 3GB is 50% more memory ...

That's a tough call, Compudet. You'd really have to sit down and compare specific details of each computer for what the better answer would be. I for one am not familiar with the detailed specs of a Dell This or an HP That (or whatever).

You seem able to educate yourself using info available online ...

The way I understand it, if you have the Heart of Winter expansion, then that patches IWD1. If you have the Trials of the Luremaster free download expansion, then this patches IWD HoW.

When the HoW expansion was released, many were critical of HoW's short length. The Trials of the Luremaster free ...

My run through the game was as a single-classed Priest of Lathander cleric.

In BG1 and SoA, he was fun and versitile. I could play him as a tank, or a defensive buffer/healer, or an offensive spellcaster/summoner, or most any other playstyle.

In ToB, he was somewhat of a lesser character during ...

As a self imposed limitation, I only allowed myself to rest once a day, and only at night. And I only allowed my dudes to memorize one of each spell each day (no filling Level 1 spell slots with 10 Magic Missiles, for example).

Or roleplay a "themed" character. For example, play as a druid who only ...
