The economy is actually badly broken at this point. Between the bargain skill, the Merchant heraldry, and honour now properly adding influence to shopping, its easy to generate huge amounts of money in minutes.
The single most broken item of the bunch is selling and buying runes, particularly the ...

High level spell casters are another good bunch to attack with weak melee weapons (or bare hands for the non-ninjitsu inclined) if you've got a decent level of steal. Nausoleum dropped six or so decent (i.e. above level 3) spell books while I was hacking away at him though his constant regeneration ...

Staroxia. Unfortunately, her quest code seems bugged and she doesn't seem to ever get over telling you about how to get the artifact from the Shadow Lord. If you dig through TEXTPAK.000, you'll find only two quests without ...

I'm glad you like it. There's an unfinished companion program to manipulate the save files so that I can examine internal settings and test conditions to gather data and frankly remove the tedium of the early game. I might consider completing it and giving it a GUI treatment if people really want it.

Character Planner Available
I've just posted to my Dungeon Lord's site an interactive character planner for 1.4 and CE. It's pretty straightforward to use and greatly simplifies the process of determining character builds.
Getting the demon key is easy with the 1.4 patch and even easier with the CE. The thief no longer leaves the prison area and in the CE he just forks over the key as soon as you talk to him. D
I've tracked the problem down to two quest entries that are improperly formed (they're missing the leading @ in TEXTPAK.000) which is likely why they never get set correctly after completion. Once you set these flags to complete (finish shadow ruins and visit Grymlock and say the magic words,) she ...

Need Beta Testers for Character Planner
With the recent release of 1.4/CE of Dungeon Lords, I've revisited my class/skill table data that's been stagnant since the original release. Instead of just posting the raw data like last time, I've used this as an excuse to get some coding practice in on some tools I've been wanting to explore ...

Thanks. It's probably a sad comment on my personality but I really enjoy doing this kind of data analysis. It was as fun as playing through the game though--in a good way I mean. Come to think of it, they were close on the other side as well. The skill advancement formula was about as frustrating as ...

Since I've pulled out all of the information I'm interested in from v1.1 of the game and finished playing through once now, I decided to write up a few articles based on the observations from the data and experience from playing the game.

Class/Guild/Skill Analysis
During the wait for the next patch, I decided to dig through the game data to determine the relationships between classes, guilds, and skills. Over the weekend, the folks on the Typhoon strategy forum helped me tighten up the information to the point I think it's more or less correct. The end result ...
