Four Character Building Documents

Post by Briar »

Since I've pulled out all of the information I'm interested in from v1.1 of the game and finished playing through once now, I decided to write up a few articles based on the observations from the data and experience from playing the game.

Choosing a race
Skill observations
Choosing classes
Powerful class combinations

All four articles can be found on my Dungeon Lords site under the technical analysis (www.landofsnow.com/dungeonlords.) I'd appreciate any feedback to correct mistakes or to share special experiences with others.

You have a comma after the www so the link does not work. Might want to edit.

Nevermind that comma, I actually looked at your stuff, and I say that it does look impressive so far. I haven't gone through it all yet, but it looks good!

I see some good analysis, great explanations. This is a great set of articles for anyone wondering about some aspect they don't know or understand fully yet.

Edit: Just went through everything, didn't read it all, but holy cow! You've got everything down! Smashing good job! Nice formulas! Intuitive, the way you've figured a skill cost progression and determined where every race's stats' costs start at on there.

Good work man!

Thanks. It's probably a sad comment on my personality but I really enjoy doing this kind of data analysis. It was as fun as playing through the game though--in a good way I mean. Come to think of it, they were close on the other side as well. The skill advancement formula was about as frustrating as the Unholy Arc/Messenger bug.

I'll be revisiting all of the data when v1.2 ships, this time eliminating dead skills instead of leaving them in. I'm hopeful that repair and alchemy at least will return, while the addition of the junk tab with the revised economy will make the game more pure caster-friendly.
