Yes, deathlord is working...but I haven´t used nether magic so often. Most of the spells are summoning spells and the creatues prevalently will be killed from your own spells or sword.

The values that causes penalties are strength and skill.
And the only shield I know, that needs a skill higher than 10, is the dragon shield! But this one needs a strength of 36.

Hm, very low information about which shield you mean!
So, try to raise your light shield, medium shield or heavy shield skill!

Well, t have found following runespells:
Rune Strike, Rune Armor,Rune Shield, Rune Blade,Rune Warrior, Sanctuary, Spitting Shield, Anti Magic Barrier or Shield (can´t remember), that´s it!
Except the Spitting Shield you can buy all spells from Grymlok at the Northlands!
