I do not think you are able to choose mage abilities until you are able to cast them, i.e. level 18. As a tripple class F/T/M I do not think you ever will be able to cast any ninth level spells. 3.000.000 * 3 = 9.000.000 and the exp cap is 8.000.000 ?
