Also I've noticed that once you start fighting you can start spamming force push and thus increase the multiplier. From what I've heard marrying a merchant is tricky as you have to "ask" her outside of working hours - since she'll only be able to sell you stuff during that time.

Any thoughts here on the 2 issues above ?

Depending on your alignment some spells which are inherently good or evil will cost less or more xp to level up depending on your alignment. Apparently you have more good in you then evil - hence the berserk leveling is more expensive and heal spell levels are cheaper to purchase.

Okay I did it. xD However it does not bode well for my marriage that it took a perfume and a few gestures to get her to marry me , and it took a ruby , emerald , some other smaller gifts and a whole lotta of gesturing to finally get it on with my ekhm soulmate on the wedding night.
