does good/evil have any effect on the game?

None as far as the story goes. RP-wise you can make decisions that are both good and evil although the game doesn't really distinguish between the two. However there are many items in the game that are alignment specific.

What are bards good for ...

It's hard-coded like that (intentioanl or bug). You can only have one version of each container. Any duplicates will have that "shared" effect and items being lost. What you CAN do though is create new containers.

Strict AD&D rules. You can not dual ANY class to a specialist mage. You can only dual to a regular Mage. If you want to create a multi-class kit with only Necromancy as the school of magic, that will require editing with software a tad more difficult than Shadow Keeper.

I've noticed Jan has all ...

Well I believe there is an imbalance of potions in the game as everything is readily available. However, in the heat of a battle potions, IMO, aren't that much better than a quick tiny heal. It still requires a turn to use, and the potions don't restore that much when you begin fighting NPCs that ...

Mind Shield is an effect from items. If the Deck of Many Things has Mind Shield included ( I don't rmemeber if one of the cards gives you that), then you can use IEEP to break it down and see what it provides.

Mind Shield can be a combination of defenses against mind attacks, or all of them. If you want to check the specifics, the item description itself should tell you what it is, or you can use an editor like IEEP and check which spells exactly it protects you from.

Each trap and lock has a statistic requirement for the Thief regardless who he or she is. So if a lock has a 100 skill, the Thief will need a 100 skill to pick it. Numbers vary in difficulty.

try this on a smarter lich and they will hand you your tush....

That tactic will get you through about 75% of the dungeon. There's only one Lich in Spellhold and it's not even tough at all.

Eventually you'll exhaust all possible options and you'll have to turn to kit editing for fun. :D For example, picture a Paladin kit with the ability to cast spells like a Priest, but without the trivial Wisdom bonus. Carsomyr + Righteous Magic = Fun

I'm not sure what you use as a basis on who is good in your party. Statwise and production I would say pick up either Keldorn (for Carsomyr, True Sight and his Dispel Magic), or a pure spellcaster like the aforementioned Edwin (or if you want to stay neutral or good, download the Tashia, Kelsey mods).

Trying to go through Spellhold without equipment is doable IF you have several mages along (whom do not rely on equipment to keeeel things). Your fighters are better off as cannon fodder or bait for the mages and clerics to target. Example, turn off AI and have a ranger/thief/monk Hide in Shadows ...

Either cheat and give the Priest the Use Any Item skill from the Thieves' HLAs, or you CAN download IEEP and edit every single blade weapon in the game and allow Priests to use them.

You should be carrying several different weapons for different situations. Certain golems require piercing only, or blunt only weapons. Example, Clay Golems are blunt only.

You're talking about the improved Tsuki no Ken (sp?) sword, right? Yeah it's cheesier than a kilo of Kraft. It won't top Level Draining claws +5 though with vampiric speed. :D
